- DPS is about to introduce a bunch of enhancements for its Perception Video
- Recorder (PVR). Here's some preliminary info:
- --A4V Multitrack Digital Audio Recorder (the audio companion to the PVR,
- realtime eight-track mixing)
- --DPS-465 Serial Digital Frame Synchronizer (bridges analog video sources
- and digital environments, also can function as a TBC)
- --SD-2500 Serial Digital I/O Option (D1 in/out interface to Digital Betacam
- decks and other serial D-1 equipment)
- --F/X Transition Accelerator (renders transitions and special effects)

- A few pressing questions:
-
- Will the DPS-465 be Firewire (DVC) compatible? Can I then use a PVR to edit
- and master DVC footage without going analog? I assume DVC uses
- compression of some sort, what happens when that signal is MJPEG
- compressed and then mastered back to DVC? What's the projected cost of the
- A4V and the DPS-465?
-
- I know desktop video has come a long way in the 5-6 years since the
- Toaster; quality, functionality and choice have improved, but complete
- editing systems are still in the $15-25k range, and perpetually just beyond
- my grasp/budget. :(
